frequently asked questions

Where are you located? Do you travel?

I'm based in Sacramento, CA and session fees include locations all over the Greater Sacramento area + (i.e. surrounding areas of Davis, Woodland, Auburn, etc). I also shoot in the Bay Area by request, and a $75 travel fee.

If you’re located elsewhere, shoot me a message and let’s chat about a custom quote!

What if I want more photos than those included in my package?

Awesome! After viewing your gallery, you may find that you want more than you thought! You'll have quite a few options, such as purchasing the entire gallery of digital downloads, ordering prints, and more.

What should I/we wear?

This truly depends on the goals for your session. After booking, I’ll consult with you on details, and suggest options based on personality, location, and the overall goal of the shoot. You can also check out my Pinterest board for inspo!

With that said, here are some tried and true tips:

  • Wear what makes you feel confident and comfortable- you’ll need to walk around and sit!

  • When outdoors, soft and natural colors tend to look best on camera.

  • Avoid distracting patterns, graphics, and logos.

  • Instead of "matching" as a group, consider coordinating to a broad color palette, and let each person wear variations.

  • Try choosing “Mom’s” outfit first, then everyone else’s!

  • For ladies who are figure-conscious, long sleeves and V-neck or scoop necklines help to accentuate the right areas!

  • Light flowy dresses are beautiful in the sunlight, especially for maternity or couples sessions.

When can I expect to receive my photos?

You'll receive your online viewing gallery within 5-7 business days of your session. From there, you’ll have 30 days to download, and place any additional orders.

How many digital photos will I receive?

When booking a full portrait session, you'll view approximately 125+, and your package includes 30 downloads of your favorite picks. When booking a mini session, you'll view approximately 50+images and your package includes 10 downloads of your favorite picks.

Note: There’s no guarantee of exactly how many photos will be in your gallery; every session varies depending on the client. The more relaxed you are, the more photos we get! These are what I’ve delivered on average.

Can I print the photos? Where?

Yes! The photos that come in your package (or additional downloads you purchase) all come with personal printing rights in high-resolution quality. This means you can print them at the printer of your choice. For quick prints like desktop frames and holiday cards, my clients often order on sites like Costco, MPix, Artifact Uprising, and Shutterfly. However, I do not guarantee the quality or color accuracy of products that you order with outside vendors.

When you want the best archival quality and color (printing enlargements for wall frames or canvases, or for archival prints, books, and gifts) I highly recommend ordering prints from my professional lab. When you view your online gallery, you’ll see the option to buy those directly from my store to be shipped to your doorstep!

How do we choose our location?

When we do our quick Zoom consultation, we can chat more about what you have in mind. I can provide you with some suggestions of my most frequent spots, and I’m also open to any ideas you may already have! And, I also love shooting in your home or neighborhood to capture you in your true element.

If you’re booking a seasonal Mini-Session, you can choose from a list of pre-determined locations in the local Sacramento area that are chosen to work well for a 20-minute shoot.

What if it rains?

I check the 10-day weather forecast leading up to your session date, and I check the hourly forecast on the day prior. In cases of showers or intermittent rain, we will usually proceed (and we bring umbrellas, and have some fun with it!) However, if the rain forecast is considerable and steady, I will contact you to reschedule or choose a different location.

Do you photograph weddings?

I spent my first few years as a wedding photographer, and I really enjoyed it! However, I no longer accept weddings simply because I don't have the time to commit. Couples deserve a wedding photographer that will devote time before, during, and after the wedding to ensure the best experience.
